So the new website is up and running atNVPublic.org.
Pretty proud of that little site. We will see if it runs its updates tomorrow, but it should be standalone and self-sufficient. I’m going to add a little content, like a meeting of the week or a comment of the week. But other than that, it should just work. I like this coding shit yourself thing.
The visual design I don’t know how to code yet, so I was at the AI’s mercy, hoping it would understand what I was talking about visually, which is not ideal. It is not my vision, but more of a cheap knockoff of my design, like a Gucii handbag or an Airmani suit. Looks kinda the same if you’re not paying attention, but if you are, all you can see is how bad it is.
So I’m having hacking issues. Dave’s pissy, and it’s payback, maybe. Who fucking knows. I can get on the website from the Chromebook. My other phone lets me go to the website. Whatever. I think the website still exists. Maybe.
I’m realizing I just need to get Spark rolling properly and get the book finished. I’ve been waiting on LawyerBoy, but he is never going to do it. So why am I waiting?
Oh, right. It’s because I have to manually do the fucking footnotes. That is why I’m avoiding it. I forgot. LOL.
Formatting footnotes in a document that size is frankly the devil’s work. Though I have real MS Word now, so maybe? I just have to sit down and do it.
Then I need to whip up the online learning platform. That’s where the educational design classes I took will come in handy. Time to get the teacher brain on.
And all of this comes back to the same thing: making information accessible. That’s why I built NVPublic.org in the first place. Nevada’s public meeting notice system is unnecessarily difficult to search, and the public shouldn’t have to hunt through government websites just to figure out what their government is doing.
Which brings me to the public records task force.
I’ve been thinking about that meeting. LawyerBoy talked me out of civil disobedience chicken. So now I gotta figure out how six minutes can make the largest impact, because they aren’t rewriting the law for the people. They’re trying to rewrite it so the government can give us less. That is what I believe the purpose of that body has become.
It’s something of a cage match. The government side pulled some shit last time. The personalities and the drama are kind of fun to watch.
In this corner, we have the government.
Leslie Nino-Piro and her yapping little purse chihuahua, whose name is almost too perfect, Brittany Walker. Then you have Matt Christian, who tried to stay moderate, but Nino-Piro has his balls now. Some elected official in Lyon County who is just such a perfect representative of most Nevada elected officials, who do and say nothing. Like, she isn’t even on camera. Last but not least, we have Kalie Work in Carson City.
Work (gov) and Hicks (transparency)? They wish they had nothing to do with this. They are ruing the day they signed up for this shitshow.
Now, in Transparency’s Corner, we have the Grand Dame, Colleen McCarty. She is the definition of decorum. I swear to you, I believe she wants to actually tear Nino-Piro to shreds. She would never do it herself, but if Nino-Piro pulls one more stunt, she might hire someone to take care of it.
Then there are the boys on that team.
Josh Hicks in Carson City is, of course, ruing the day. He tries to maintain control of the merry band of assholes on the government side, but he clearly just needs a goddamn drink after dealing with these people.
Mitch Fox is more of the great elder. Not that he is old, just wise and calm. Ben Lipman is still trying to play nice, but he and McCarty? I have a feeling they’re about to throw down, and Fox has their back. Good tag team. And Matt Morris appears as though perhaps he has a real job and has to go do it. He tries, but has other shit to do.
So we really have a Las Vegas showdown. Three on three. Nino-Piro, Britt-Britt, and Christian versus McCarty, Lipman, and Fox, with Hicks as the reluctant ref.
Where’s my money?
It’s going to come down to Nino-Piro versus McCarty. McCarty would win the cage match if the fight were fair. She would wipe the floor with that bitch.
However, Nino-Piro is the type who doesn’t play clean. She will headbutt your ass and get away with it. She is a slippery snake in the grass. McCarty is smarter and better, but when they aren’t fighting fair, it’s hard to call the fight.
It’s a cage match that Mills Lane would get a kick out of if he were still alive to see it.
And that was the most Nevada joke ever.
